ARC Guitar Building School.

ARC Guitar has a unique guitar building school in Winters CA that helps interested students design, build and complete a professional quality steel string acoustic guitar. The classes meet weekly most Saturdays at ARC Guitar's Workshop and gallery located at 308 Railroad Avenue in Winters CA.

The cost for tuition is $50.00 per week for a four hour session. Class size is limited to 6 students. The course takes about 26 sessions to complete the guitar. Some students progress faster than others and are encouraged to go at their own pace. Hands on and classroom instruction are included in each week's session.  If student misses a class, it's quite all right,  as each student is treated as an individual and given one on one instruction as the need arises.

The materials cost about $675.00  + tx. and include all the materials and glues needed to build a steel string acoustic guitar (with the exception of tuning machines and case).  When completed, the retail value of the hand-crafted guitar is estimated at $2,000.00 and is considered a good value for the time and money invested.

Start to Finish

The scope of the course takes the student from inception and design through to completion up to the point of applying a finish. The finish is not included in the course as there are many different types of finishes available. We will assist the student in choosing a finish suitable to fit the skill level and time constraints of each student.

There are many options available and we are committed to helping the student discover the one that fits best. Another option is to allow ARC Guitar to apply a finish at the completion of the project for a nominal fee.

ARC Guitar's busy shop doubles as a school on Saturdays. Located in the historical downtown of Winters CA, the shop's atmosphere lends itself to old world craftsmanship with the benefit of modern technology. the school is equipped with adequate workspace for six students.

An apprenticeship may be offered to students who excel at guitar building and demonstrate skill and passion in their building. 

ARC Guitar uses environmentally friendly products and practices green conservation and good earth stewardship.

Hands-on Learning

We assist students learning to design and build their own guitars. We are very patient with beginners. Students can expect to build a high quality acoustic guitar they will enjoy for a lifetime.

We teach "safety first" and require the use of eye and hearing protection for machine work.
